At the heart of Khalo's origin story lies a deeply personal journey intertwined with the nurturing traditions passed down by our ancestors.
As a first-generation Indian American immigrant I got caught up in the overly processed Standard American diet during college. When I launched into my nearly decade long career launching and marketing new beauty and cosmetic products for luxury beauty brands, I began to develop gut health issues like IBS and leaky gut that left me debilitated. There is only so much that makeup can cover up.
It was during those challenging times that I found solace and healing in the comforting memories of my mother's kitchen, where the aroma of spices and the warmth of her cooking provided a sense of home and well-being.
Through hundreds of hours of FaceTime calls with her, I embarked on a journey of rediscovery, learning how to cook with intuition and applying the ancient ways she had been taught back in India.
It was through her guidance that I learned how to apply the cutting edge, 5000+ year old science of Ayurveda to heal my gut health through intentional spices and herbs. This completely transformed my life.
By harnessing and using the power of potent spices and herbs, I realized that I could change how I felt in my body by just changing my food habits and adding in powerful spices and herbs. I wanted to share this magic with the rest of the world... and Khalo was born.
